Campus Profile

Where we Come from
Makerere University Jinja Campus was opened mid academic year 2008/2009 with nine (9) students offering Bachelor of information technology which was coordinated by Dr. Gilbert Maiga. It was housed in National Water and Sewerage Corporation building on Plot 7 Bell avenue. In Academic year 2009/2010 the following programs were introduced:

  • Bachelor of Business Administration
  • Bachelor of Commerce
  • Bachelor of Tourism
  • Bachelor Development studies

A new overall campus coordinator Prof. J.B. Nyakaana was appointed. He became Director in October 2017. The starting of new programmes and increase in student numbers to 803 in 2013/2014 necessitated having more teaching space (Plot 5 Bell Avenue) and spire road primary (five year MoU) after being chased from Plot 5 Bell Avenue.
Unfortunately our student population has now reduced to 319 in 2018/2019 which is an increase from the 279 in 2017/2018
